Basics STD tests

The Basics tests cover chlamydia and gonorrhoea. As a rule of thumb, wait at least 14 days after the last sex that you want to test for, before taking our Basics STD tests. If there is a concrete reason to test, e.g. symptoms or sex with a person who tested positive, test (earliest) after 7 days.

This recommendation applies to the following tests:

Premium STD test

HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C can be detected by the Premium STD test, once your body has started to develop antibodies. As a rule of thumb, wait 6 weeks after the last sex that you want to test for, before taking the Premium STD test. Sometimes it makes sense to test earlier:

  • HIV: if you had sex with an infected person, please contact a doctor immediately for Post Expositions Prophylaxis (PEP). The earliest detection of HIV antibodies or p24 Antigen (HIV protein) is after 2 weeks with our test. In case you test negative, repeat the test after week 6.

  • Syphilis: if you had sex with an infected person, the earliest detection of Syphilis is after 3 weeks

If you had sex with a person infected with Hepatitis B or C and you test negative, repeat the test after month 3 and again after month 6. For Hepatitis B this is only needed when you have not been vaccinated.

🩺 In case of doubt when or what to test, contact a doctor or find specialized counselling through the FOPH service Love Life.
